Established in 1961 Blayson is considered a leading specialist in the manufacture and supply of a complete range of investment casting wax materials and technical services to foundries worldwide.

 

Today Blayson proudly serves the aerospace, industrial gas turbine, medical, automotive and commercial markets from specialist wax manufacturing and laboratory facilities in Cambridge UK and Chiba Japan and supports the industry through a global network of sales offices, agents and distributors which together form The Blayson Global Partners.

 

The company prides itself on the advanced technical services offered and technical capabilities available with wax research and development continuing to be at the forefront of the Blayson ethos.

Timeline

1961

Blayson Olefines Ltd is established by Laurence Williams and Robert Maddison as a trading company for the supply of wax materials to various industries.

1970

Ronald Williams joins the business and the decision is made to concentrate on the manufacture and supply of wax to the investment casting industry with manufacturing first taking place at Poth Hille Works in East London.

1982

With expansion of the investment casting industry worldwide and the increasing influence of the company within the industry, a new purpose designed factory is developed in Cambridge UK with wax production commencing in 1983.

1985

With further global expansion the company becomes involved in sales to the Far East especially Japan, and to service the industry in Japan efficiently the subsidiary manufacturing company Blayson Japan Co Ltd is established in 1985.

1987

The Blayson Group Ltd holding company is formed with Head Office in London and with Blayson Olefines Ltd and Blayson Japan Co Ltd as subsidiary Companies of the Group.

1988

The Cambridge site undergoes expansion with the acquisition of a second unit to allow for additional warehousing and technical facilities.

1990

Blayson Casting Systems Ltd is established to provide additional services, equipment and materials to support the foundry such as wax pattern wash and mould release agents.

2001

The Cambridge site sees further expansion with the acquisition of a third unit which is developed into purpose designed meeting and conference facilities and additional warehouse space.

2003

With the success and growth of the services offered to the Japanese investment casting market a new production facility with additional capacity is required and so the new purpose designed Blayson Japan factory is opened for business in 2003.

2007

The Cambridge site undergoes further expansion with the acquisition of a fourth unit which is developed for further raw material warehousing.

2011

The redesign and expansion of The Blayson Technical Centre Cambridge marks 50 years of business and aligns Blayson for a future of dedication to wax testing, research and development.
Blayson marks its 50 year golden anniversary with an open day event held in Cambridge attended by many valued customers, suppliers, global partners and associates.

2014

The Cambridge headquarters see further development and operational improvement with the main warehousing space moved to now be adjacent to the wax manufacturing and office facilities.

2018

The Cambridge warehousing facilities see further expansion with the acquisition of an additional unit next door to the existing main warehouse.

2020

As the company enters a new decade and approaches 60 years of business plans are underway for the redevelopment of the Cambridge facilities including centralisation and refurbishment of office, laboratory, and wax injection facilities.

2021

In September the Company marked 60 years of business.

2023

By 2023 Blayson saw levels of business returning to pre-covid levels.
